This critically acclaimed epic trilogy follows the quest undertaken by the hobbit, Frodo Baggins, and his fellowship of companions to save Middle-earth by destroying the One Ring and defeating the evil forces of the Dark Lord Sauron. With new and extended scenes carefully added back into the film, the 12-disc set also includes hours of bonus features.

Customer Rating: Summary: Lords of the Rings - triolgy CD pack. platunum edition Comment: I purchased this for as a Christmas gift for my daugther. She was very happy withe the 12 CD's and all the maps/info. that came with it. I was very satiffied with the contens as well as the quality of the CD's and the printed materials, Anazon's delivery and packaging.
Customer Rating: Summary: Extended Edition is a must Comment: The extended edition of LOTR is a must. The original movies seemed to lack justification for some of the actions that took place. The extended edition provides it.
Maybe one day there will be a Re-extended Edition. I am sure there is more film that could be put it. LOTR is a complex story with many complex characters. I would love to see it enriched even more. But, until there is a Re-extended Edition, you need the Extended Edition.
Customer Rating: Summary: The best got even better Comment: For anyone who is a fan of the "Ring" books as well as the movies, this is a delight. Some of the additional scenes filled-in parts of the story-line that readers of the books knew were relevant, making the movie more complete. Loved it all!
Customer Rating: Summary: A WONDROUS PRESENTATION OF TOLKIEN'S MASTERPIECE Comment: If you've only seen the theatrical version of these films you've missed a great deal. Usually the 'extended editions' of films are disappointing, or unnecessary. That is not the case here. In fact the additional two plus hours ( for the three films ) makes the story much more cohesive.
For the Penelope Purehearts out there that can't stand the fact that the Elflord Glorfindel was trashed to give Arwen ( Liv Tyler's ) character more screen time, and thus flesh out her's, and Aragorn's ( Viggo Mortensen's ) romance, or the fact that Tom Bombadil, and Goldberry are altogether missing- all I can say is 'boo-hoo!' I've read the book, THE LORD OF THE RINGS, at least twenty times since the 70's ( when 'Frodo Lives' was appearing on the walls of subways, and viaducts all over the country ), and I was actually thrilled that Peter Jackson did not spend an hour on Bilbo's birthday party in order to be true to the only tedious portion of Tolkien's masterwork.
This is the greatest trilogy in the history of film, and the extended edition makes a splendid theatrical version into something approaching perfection.
Customer Rating: Summary: more that five stars Comment: I like this movie and the book. very good presentation, but I have something to say, the first movie, doesn't have subtitles in Spanish, the other two have had subtitles...
